Day 26 – September 26
Numbers 11:25-29 – Eldad and Medad had the spirit come to rest upon them even though they weren’t at the gathering where the 70 elders received the spirit alongside Moses.
“They had been on the list, but had not gone out to the tent” – others were bothered by this but Moses was not. “Would that all the people of the Lord were prophets! Would that the Lord might bestow his spirit on them all!”
I am actually not sure what my thoughts are on this… I feel these words stirring me in some fashion, but I’m not clear on what/how. But what I do know is that I am drawn to the fact that while they “missed out” on the big event God didn’t overlook them. He still saw them. He still knew them. And He still came to them even when they were unable to come to Him.
There’s a comfort in that I think. They lived worthy lives (“they had been on the list”) but they just couldn’t go to the gathering tent for the event. Maybe I am drawn to this since like Eldad and Medad I am unable to go to church right now (due to anxiety over Coronavirus + social anxiety with crowds) and so it is comforting to know that God still sees me. He still knows me. And He can still come to me even when I am unable to come to Him.
