While searching for another motherhood poem that I wrote I came across this one that I wrote in 2013. So here you have it. And “Thanks Mom.”
Life’s Transitions
You look in the face of a woman you do not know
then learn, in time, she can answer life’s questions
like, “Mom, can you help me?”
Before you know it there are eyes,
looking back at you, asking
“Mom, can you help me?”
You look into the face of the helpless one,
reliant on you to guide her through life
and turn to thoughts of your own mother
who helped you along the way.
Then you physically turn to her,
wise with years of wisdom she does not see herself
and ask, “Mom, can you help me?”
She proudly raises her granddaughter
and says, “Of course, sweetie.”
as she’s always done.
