30 Days of Gratitude Challenge: Day 17

Every time you feel stressed or discouraged today, think of a blessing God gave you. At the end of the day, pray about how this shifted your perspective.

Ruthie didn’t go down for a nap like I expected and then at night she was extra fussy. She usually sleeps soundly but kept stirring, so much that we had to snuggle for 45ish minutes before she finally settled enough to be content when put back down.

Expectations didn’t meet reality. But then I remembered today’s challenge and I felt extra blessed that on an average day Ruthie is an amazing sleeper — today was an outlier. It is such a blessing that she is healthy, somehow not a regular or regularly fussy baby, and that she is here.

It is so easy to get bogged down and have a narrow focus and take a limited perspective. But with even a small amount of reflection, pausing, and praising God you really can correct your focus and get a better perspective.

I and my family are so very, very, deeply, truly blessed in countless ways!
