50th Wedding Anniversary (Poem)

My in-laws celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August. I wrote a poem for the occasion, which I am sharing with you here:

Dan & Peggy – 50th Wedding Anniversary

Fifty years ago you shared “I dos” and became “Husband and Wife”
Side by side, together, on this busy road called life.

You made plans, you held hands, you ventured forth as one.
Then as “Mom and Dad” with the birth of your two sons.

Time traveled on and you did too, forever side by side.
Now titles of “Pappy”, “Grammie” are ones you wear with pride.

Life’s pace has slowed, your feet have too, but you still walk together.
For your “I dos” were true back then and will be true forever.

So here’s to your fifty years. May God grant you many more.
And may each day you have be like that first August 24.

To “Dan and Peggy”, “Dad and Mom”, “Pappy and Grammie”!
Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary!

OK So it appears many of you make it to this post just looking for a GENERIC-ISH 50TH ANNIVERSARY POEM you could possibly use… So I have re-worked it here and I send my Congrats to the couple in your life that has made it 50 years! (Obviously substitute the happy couple’s own names and what honorifics the grandkids give them.)

Fifty years ago you shared “I dos” and became “Husband and Wife”
Side by side, together, on this busy road called life.

You made plans, you held hands, you ventured forth as one.
Then as “Mom and Dad” with the birth of little ones.

And all your days together be like the ones that have come before.

To “[Name] and [Name]”, “Dad and Mom”, “Pappy and Grammie”!
Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary!

And a version if there aren’t any grandkids:

Fifty years ago you shared “I dos” and became “Husband and Wife”
Side by side, together, on this busy road called life.

You made plans, you held hands, you ventured forth as one.
Then as “Mom and Dad” with the birth of little ones.

Time traveled on and you did too, forever side by side.
No matter what your title, you’ve worn them all with pride.

Life’s pace has slowed, your feet have too, but you still walk together.
For your “I dos” were true back then and will be true forever.

So here’s to your fifty years. May God grant you many more.
And all your days together be like the ones you’ve had before.

To “[Name] and [Name]”, “Dad and Mom”.
Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary!
