St. Elizabeth of the Trinity was canonized yesterday. I was only made aware of her on that profound evening a few weeks ago when God showed me that sometimes when I say “Yes” to Him He is actually making me do something for me.
When I prayed with that woman sitting at the Mary statue she mentioned that a Carmelite sister was being canonized soon and to look her up. I did and her contemplative prayer life and message is just so in line with how I am trying to live. I have found my saint! 🙂 I have wanted a personal saint for a while… and I have prayed to many for various things. But in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity I feel a home.
“I think that in Heaven my mission will be to draw souls by helping them to go out of themselves in order to cling to God by a wholly simple and loving movement, and to keep them in this great silence within which will allow God to communicate Himself to them and to transform them into Himself”. – St. Elizabeth of the Trinity.
As I continue to pray to “not get in the way of me doing what God wants me to do” thru St. Elizabeth of the Trinity I can pray for that strength and the support/encouragement to do just that. God is drawing me out of myself every day – and I am trying to respond and go where He leads. I used to feel such anxiousness all the time but for Him I feel calm. What power there is in this inner silence that lets me grow closer to God!
