Write a poem about: Silence

I sought a walk in a quiet wood

so that my mind could wander,

wonder at nature’s beauty,

hear natural things to ponder.

The babbling brook was selective

speaking just in dribbles.

The muted leaves were secretive

sharing none of the wind’s riddles.

The sounds I heard most loudly

which silenced all the rest

were my own steps below me,

a most unwelcome guest.
