Challenge Month: Day 14 (John 3:17)

Day 14 – September 14

John 3:16 is a well-known, oft-quoted verse. Probably so much so that just my mentioning it brings the entire verse to your mind.

But what about John 3:17? Do you know that one?

Today I found myself utterly drawn to it and into it.

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.”

Now to commit those words to memory as well as I have committed John 3:16. (“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”)

Secondly, 3:16 is about focused more on the self while 3:17 is broader – it is about others; the whole world. The two verses belong together; separated out each sends a beautiful message, but they are missing their counterpart. I think the world needs some “John 3:16-17” signs.
